Yael Bamberger, Ph.D.

Develops content, and plans interpretation and curation for museums, visitor centers, and heritage and nature sites.
Always asking: why is it important? Is it interesting? And with what meaning will the visitors go home?

I have been dealing with the relationship between the exhibition space and the processes that take place in it for years, since my doctoral studies at the Technion, which dealt with museum education, and my post-doctorate at the University of Michigan.
The world of science taught me to observe processes and try to derive principles and ideas from them. I used these tools as a content developer at the National Museum of Science and Technology, Madatech.
I still use them today in the process of developing exhibition spaces in museums and heritage, nature and environment sites.
I present the tools and methods I have learned over the years in the book Taking Form: Specification of Exhibition Spaces , which I wrote together with Elad Bezaleli, VP of Administration, Headquarters and Heritage at the Council for Conservation of Heritgae Sites in israel.
In recent years I have been leading the Israeli interpretation organization - Interpret IL - and a member of the supervisory committee of Interpret Europe.

In both I try to promote the field of heritage interpretationin order to offer visitors a valuable and meaningful experience.
The processes of interpretation planning and curation fascinate me, perhaps because I really like to observe, listen and learn. Observe the processes, listen to people and learn from the past, to try and create a better present and future.

I live in Kfar Hassidim, married to Hagay, mother of four amazing children and grandmother to gorgeous granddaughters.

My story

My professional path began with studies in psychology and education and a Master's degree in public communications and journalism. After several years in management positions in the cultural and academic worlds, I came to the field of design and from there to curatorship.

My curatorial "I believe" focuses on an enabling and accessible approach to different audiences in different places, creating inviting, simple, and lively spaces and connections that are allowed to be touched...

I live in Givat Ada, married to Hagai and the mother of three children. Well, not so much children anymore...
